Mental health care? I had a massive mental breakdown last year when I had multiple medical problems all happen at once. And honestly I found PHP and IOP programs to be the most helpful. Inpatient only made me worse, and I would avoid it unless you are actively a danger to yourself or others. If you did not mean mental health treatment, please ignore this

But don’t feel bad about not being able to return to work just yet. I go back next month and I’m kinda terrified

mental health yes! I visited a treatment center today and it was really tough for me to even walk in by myself and ask for options. or help. or anything. she said someone may call me about iop but they would likely want me to spend seven days inpatient first so they could stabilize me… after just being there witnessing a dad come out of a visit with his son and hearing how that went, I was terrified. inpatient would probably send me into a deep psychotic break.

I’m extremely blessed in the work admin dept thank goodness. I’m at my first adult job and I just started a couple of months ago. as for the inpatient care, I likely do need that 24/7 care and someone structuring some things for me right now. I live alone and I’m extremely blessed that my family is willing to roadtrip to spend some time and care for me this coming week. it’s just really scary. and bad things just keep happening and piling on and it’s like ok is my life even real!!!!

There are also residential programs that you can try to get into. It’s basically like being in a hospital but without the chaos of a psych ward, and the staff and nurses tend to be nicer and more supportive there. It takes a lot to seek help, so you should be proud of that.

But yeah, people can forget about the mental toll of having a chronic condition. Good luck with getting that help you need!

However I will warn you that you REALLY have to advocate for your inpatient, like constantly. This might just be my experience, but I’ve had hospitals neglect my physical health bc they can’t see past the mental illness part. So if you do go inpatient be prepared for that possibility.
