It’s nearly impossible to get money from strangers (and even family) for something like a service dog. Your program should have ideas they can give you, but you should expect to fund most of it yourself. We took out a personal loan.

I don’t mean to burst your bubble but in the long run owner training isn’t actually cheaper than a program dog. I owner trained and it was a similar expense (larger if he had behavioral issues) and more work. I really wish you luck and you can reach out at any time for tips, tricks, venting, or support. What type of dog did you get? How old is she? Is she amazing lol?

This is my second OT’d dog!! The worst expense was the dog proper as I chose to get an ethically bred golden who was bred for service work! I have a few friends who are dog trainers so if I forget how to train something I have a backup!! She’s 8.5 months old and already has learned SO much and is doing 100x better than my first SD (byb boxer) did at her age!!

Omg I so happy you’ve set yourself up for so much success! I also got my dog at around 8 months with pre trained basic/advanced obedience and the trainer said he was basically gifted! She is ADORABLE and looks so happy and so tuned into you! Pink is also definitely her color!!!

My boy only wears red lol! It was his puppy name - “Mr. Red” it’s not a problem because I love it and think it’s adorable

Why are handlers like this lmao? I asked my friend what color my next dog should be and they asked “why just one?” And it was the most absurd thing I had ever heard!

Since I’m autistic I do have one rainbow and white setup that goes with the leash in the picture (it’s got rainbow accents)

I have a few special occasion outfits too (Halloween, cherry blossoms festival, etc) but the leash is always red, bowl is red, etc.

I’m gonna try and get Halloween patches- I’m getting a strawberry set from virgodogco on Instagram (idk if you know them but they’re my bff haha) that I spent all my money on though
