De Ridder is only playing 2 years total in college (including next year). This isn’t like Chandler Morris trying to get a 7th year in college at all. You got a problem with it, take it to the ncaa, not us.(If you’re curious, De Ridder played 3 years in a Belgian “pro” league (pro is in quotes because they’re full time basketball players but the level of comp is way more comparable to college than the nba), and the ncaa considers overseas play and other non-high school leagues to count towards eligibility, so the 3 years he spent in Belgium counted as two years of eligibility (not sure if they counted a redshirt year and two years, but that’s how they did it) and he was granted two years in-
-college as a result. UVA is also unusual since we have a lot of old players (including a 38 year old kicker in football a few years ago. Yes, thirty eight years old. He was in the Marines for a while) that mainly stems from their difficulty in recruiting due to their academic standards and 60-credit requirement, but this isnt like Joey Aguilar or Chandler Morris suing for more time, he’s only spending 2 years in college.
