I still don’t believe NIL does shit for college athletics. My school has more NIL money than most schools and they still can’t get more than one five star recruit a year. It’s the coaches who make a difference not NIL

That’s a General Manager problem. My school has plenty to spend but our GM is a moron who gave colorados WR6 a milli

And yet we can’t shill out for a 5Star QB recruit… and you wonder why Mike Norvell hasn’t had a top 15 class in 6 years

Mine does too. And our school has been playing fairly well. But that is because of our coach. Not NIL. I think a lot of people don’t understand the players priorities. The transfer portal has made a much bigger difference than NIL.

Also a very valid point. FSU wouldn’t have won the ACC championship without transfers like JT13, Verse, Fiske, and Coleman. But having the willingness to spend money versus spending it with the right player is a whole nother ballgame

The biggest thing much more so than the money when transferring is whether a player thinks they will get to play at a a school. you can offer someone a lot of NIL money but ultimately if they don’t get to play they are going to ask, why am I even here if I want to make it to the NFL

Every player who has made it to a D1 football team is someone who loves to play football. You don’t get that far by just being talented. You need passion.

I feel like that applies moreso to G6/FCS transfers and “unknowns” - a great example is Skattebo coming from Sac State and becoming a huge part of the giants. Leaves smaller (especially Fcs) schools at a major disadvantage now that everyone has cash they can throw

The money isn’t helping the schools. The transfer portal definitely is. NIL is just a sideshow for the most part. It’s also definitely a corrupting influence on the sport and colleges in general.
