And as usual, the fans have ZERO say in this. UNC fans do NOT want this to happen.

How are we gonna have a school with north in the name in a conference with south in the name? It would be nice for conferences to be at least a little bit regional if they're going to stay named like they are.

Unc students may not but the alumni do and are pushing for it. The SEC has had an open invitation for them for over a year now

Idk if I'd call it south, it's right around the middle of the east coast, seems more like regular east than southeast to me

North Carolina is still the South but fits in way better geography in the ACC than in the SEC. Also, if you’ve ever stepped foot inside of Chapel Hill, you would not think anything about SEC culture. That school is not culturally southern.

It doesn’t matter. The SEC wants them and will take them if they will generate the sec more money. Culture doesn’t matter

I think Chapel Hill shares a lot of cultural similarities with schools like Florida and Texas, they’re the top public schools in their state, they’ve got heavy frat/sorority presences, and definitely all have elements of southern culture. Now I do think it’s pretty distinct from schools like Bama, Arkansas, LSU that are deep deep southern schools

That tells me you’ve never been to NC. It is distinctly southern and definitely not northern, coming from someone who grew up in the north

Agree - Duke fan Chapel Hill very much has your big southern school vibe, frats and all
