I would agree if the preseason rankings actually meant nothing. Certain teams start with an advantage of being ranked high and, as long as they don’t lose, they get to keep that spot.

Projected rankings early season are cool, but legit early season ranking genuinely set up too much hype for high ranked teams and later in the year excuses end up being made to justify their poor performance still allowing them to be ranked so that the AP poll and other ranking organizations don’t lose credibility.
