The SEC should consider NC State and VA Tech tbh. They’d both culturally fit, expand the SEC to two new states (plus the DC tv market), and having both VT and Texas A&M would allow the SEC to host a major matchup between two Senior Military Colleges.

Issue is the SEC is looking for top teams which neither team are. They are good but they aren’t historically or even consistently good.

Counterpoint, they’re decent enough in other sports and in academics where they would still increase conference prestige while providing free wins to other members of the conference in FB while they get their money up

Both would improve with SEC-level money

DC TV market is a stretch though, the B1G said the same thing with UMD.

Most of the money in the DC suburbs is in Northern Virginia, and VT blows UVA out of the water for viewership numbers

Virginia Tech was “historically good” throughout the 1990s and 2000s, and had a brief period between 2016, 2017, and 2019. The issue is the consistency has gone away, and things need to change to get them back to that standard. If that can happen though, they definitely would be in the picture. Huge missed opportunity this past season with a 6-6 record, 5 of the losses by one score or less, the other by 10. We’ll see what happens this upcoming season with the Hokies…

I’d maintain that SEC money would make both NC State and Virginia Tech very competitive, they have the makings already.
