2023 day still shouldn’t have been in the playoffs due to their sos and bama beat georgia in the sec champ game who were under dogs and fsu beating an unranked team by 10 points

Don’t care. The second fsu didn’t make it was the second the CFP committee decided you can’t really earn anything in college football. Going undefeated doesn’t matter if the logo on your helmet isn’t appealing enough.

they played in the weakest power “5”(before conference alignment) conference and played NO ONE it doesn’t matter if you go undefeated if you haven’t beaten anyone and no credible wins

So ranked LSU, ranked Duke, and ranked Louisville are “nobody” apparently

Schedule wasn’t the problem, it was the QB who was the source of all their best wins being out for the season in a format where only 4 teams could even get in. They would’ve 100% been in if Jordan Travis was healthy or if their backup wasn’t demonstrably fucking terrible in the last couple games before the CFP

This entire situation isn’t relevant now that there are over 10 teams that make the playoff

it’s not just that but it’s because they preformed so poorly in that championship game and bama didn’t when performance in games matter more in that era

I still think they should’ve been in just because it’s not fair for the rest of the guys (cause there were studs on that team, dudes like Keon Coleman, Jared Verse, Braden Fiske) that they too did everything right they could’ve done but were snubbed because they wouldn’t be “entertaining enough”

That’s bs imo, it was a good defense but Bama had a better chance than FSU did of winning as soon as Travis went down

Ultimately it comes down to a philosophical difference: should CFP spots go to teams with the best regular season performance or the highest likelihood of winning the championship? At least personally I think with a 4-team CFP it should be the 4 most likely teams to win and with a 12-team CFP it should be the teams with the best regular seasons.

Doesn’t matter who has the better chance, FSU did more right that they could’ve than Bama who lost a game

It should go to the people that actually earned it

I generally agree with you, 4-team playoff is just a shitty format so I only support Bama being in over FSU in 2023 for that reason. With any future format (or even a more sensible 8 team playoff w/ no byes) FSU would’ve deserved to be in that year to get their God given right to have their ass handed to them in the first round

Doesn’t matter. A 0 loss team shouldn’t be left out for a 1 loss team

I mean if the fantastic QB who’s the reason they had 0 losses is out and they barely scrape their way in then I get it, I’m just glad they let more than 4 teams in now so it’s not an issue anymore (if someone misses a low seed they’re not winning anyway)

Did the star players that were all high picks in the NFL I named not matter? Football is a team sport

It is a team sport, they just had multiple games where Travis was out where they did not play like a top 15 (let alone a top 4) team for any of them and they consistently looked fucking horrible on offense

Again this would not be an issue in the current format thankfully

I think it’s just proof 4 wasn’t enough for 130+. But even then 13-0 is 13-0 at the end of the day. Leaving out teams that did everything mathematically right isn’t ever a good look.

Florida State would have gotten in if Georgia had win the SEC that year

They’re just lucky Notre Dame had more than 1 loss that year, the only force in the universe stronger than SEC bias is Notre Dame bias
