I think that people massively overrate the bottom tier sec teams, like sec fans can’t fathom that teams like Auburn/Florida/South Carolina are on par with teams like Rutgers/Syracuse/Kansas purely on name brand value and not on field product.
What annoys me more than anything about SEC fans is they act like 9-3 or 10-2 teams in other conferences aren’t legit. A few years back OSU had a great resume beating PSU and ND and no one took them seriously

Exactly they prop up mid teams just because they’re in the sec. Big 10 fans dont do that, we acknowledge that Rutgers is ass. We’re not out here vouching “bbbuutt auburn and arkansas would be 9-3 in the big 10”. So pathetic

I never understood 1) why people think it’s so belittling to just admit their conference is top heavy and 2) so desperate to prop up their conference rivals

Yeah, no one’s doubting that the top of the sec is elite, but stop acting like auburn or Florida would run your conference when they wouldn’t

Big 10 fans dont prop up rivals. To answer the first point, I will admit we are top heavy, but the SEC isnt necessarily deep just because they have a lot of ranked teams. With no alpha dog, the SEC just appears to be a moshpit of mid with their best team losing to a team who hasnt won an ACC game in 13 months

I mean if you are doubting bamas ability to play that’s foolish

I’m so sick of this shit as an SEC fan i literally promise you it’s just Auburn fans saying that this and they’re projecting bc they’re losers. No one who knows ball thinks Auburn or Florida would run either conference Now the slight difference is that Auburn and Florida both at least do have national championships in the last 20 years

Those natties have zero effect on today’s ball though because the players and staffs are different. This is another flawed sec argument, and LSU gets it a lot too. Indiana would beat the snot out of LSU but so many people would pick lsu because “yk 03, 07, 19 type shi”

Bama is playing well now but they will always have that floor that the big 10’s best dont have. The rest of the sec teams dont have much of a ceiling except maybe georgia. I mean a&m, ou missouri and vanderbilt seem incapable of winning 4 playoff games
