Conferences exist almost entirely for marketing and TV hours, I see no reason for that to determine who's allowed to compete for the national title

A playoff that they only made due to their cherry-picked schedule. I’ll give credit where it’s due, their playoff run was amazing. But because they start ranked and don’t play any difficult teams, they never drop ranks because they pick teams that they won’t lose to. And it isn’t common that they do lose.
