Dude the Louisville runner continually runs into him. Why tf are you trying to block a 58 yard FG in college

I get not drilling the kicker but he was clearly just running with zero intent to hit him

Also wym? Why would you not try to block any attempt at points

A 58 yard fg with a college kicker is a guaranteed miss. The risk of roughing or jumping off sides is far greater than trying to block the kick. Better analytically to just leave a zone defense out there and cover a fake.

Except he’s already made a 58 yard kick…

Then he shanked that one

Like I said highly unlikely.

True but I feel like you still have to try

Try for what?? The risk of a penalty? Like I said the percentages and analytics say once it’s past 55 in college you bank on the kicker out right missing and leave a base defense on field. Unless you want a kick 6 in which cause you just punt the return team out there.

Until the other team makes a game winning field goal because “they statistically should’ve missed”

Yeah but the odds of you actually blocking the field goal are 1 in 100. You are letting fear rule your decisions. Unless you are GT with that damn 6’10 TE you aren’t blocking field goals beyond 55 regularly.

When this guy drills this 48 yard fg don’t come at me. You should try and block this one. This is make is likley. 55 nope that’s the stopping point
