Idk why this is getting downvoted. It’s more football and it keeps us from getting a 16 team or whatever the they end up coming up with
I say instead of expanding the playoffs just give the group of 6 their own 16-18 team playoff ESPN can stream every game. The NCAA can still make money off of the games and we get more football with less chances of player injuries.

On a serious note, the best G5 teams can compete with some high level P5 teams. G5 may have a terrible playoff record, but that one year boosted Cincinnati to a P4 team. Keeping G5 in the playoff gives a chance to have incredible Cinderella runs by teams like Boise last year, cincy a few years ago, who knows what G5 team might make a run and win a few games next

bad suggestion that bars teams from competing at the highest level off an arbitrary rule based on one year of a playoff bracket. let teams play

It’s an unpopular opinion but I think it would be cool for the Group of 6 to have their own playoff. Give one spot in the CFP (a team like Boise State that deserved to compete with the big boys) as it is now,and at-large (if two G6 teams for example is in the top 10)… but have a mini bracket for a G6 bowl game series for the other top 6-8 teams, and a trophy for winning that. Maybe not 16-18 teams though.

Yeah but it will atleast slow down the expansion because the people wanting it to will make the extra money from this playoff format. We get to see more football with starters playing. These group of 6 players now will have an extra opportunity to get film or eyes. It also helps with injuries so that’s probably the best thing for all athletes

My idea: for the G6, the top conference winner goes to the CFP for the auto-bid. The remaining conference championships would get auto-bids to a G6 bowl game mini playoff, along with a few at-large bids for the other 2 or 3 top G5 teams. Play 4 first round games, 2 semi final games, and a championship game. It wouldn’t be a national title game, but something like a small version of the NIT for basketball, exclusively for the G6. Could even host first round games at home sites.

Yeah the best g6 being able to play in the CFP was something I was thinking of but didn’t include it. I’m glad someone else thought of it.

The top team can still compete in the Power 4 tournament. This just allows more teams to play in meaningful games with complete rosters.

Idk if it was this thread but my original post I left out that detail that I believed the number 1 seed has the opportunity to play in the P4 tournament and if they are seeded high enough the number 2 can. Which I also feel that maybe just maybe we should keep atleast one in the P4 tournament and have the other 12 of the top 13 play in the tournament.

That gets to be a lot of rules and conditional things that will cause hate when Eastern Michigan gets put in over Utah or something. Call me biased, but I like the 5/ (6 if pac12 comes back) conference champs autobid. Make the conference championship worth more for any and every team

The idea was more for if they try to expand the playoffs to too many teams. It kinda helps keep the amount of games a season. It’s not a thing to be done right now it’s more if one day someone goes you know 32 teams is a must. That’s just too many teams. I have just horribly described the vision.
