CBB is very cyclical (at least it has been the last few years) which is one of the things I like about it versus a lot of other college sports 23-24 ACC dominated the tournament 24-25 SEC dominated the tournament 25-26 B1G dominated the tournament And then the top of the Big East and Big 12 are always killers. It’s kinda hard to say any one conference “owns” the sport bc there’s really only a couple teams in each high major conference that even make the sweet 16 all that consistently.

+ people actually want underdogs to succeed while CFB fans tend to cheer for the same blue chip schools to succeed instead of parity (believe me people hated Indiana all season cause they thought they were too fair weather of a fanbase)

People get caught up in it bc they’re arguing their team’s playoff resume or ranking which is understandable, but it gets to a point (especially this past season) where so many people are arguing that literally anybody that’s not in their team’s conference is a fraud that it just gets ridiculous. So many people wouldn’t admit IU was legit until they won the B1G, when it was obvious when they beat Oregon literally months before.

Yeah, I go to an SEC school but I’m from Indiana and it’s actually insane how much people down south wouldn’t give the Hoosiers recognition, the team or the fanbase. How tf are you gonna blame them for having low attendance when they hadn’t won a bowl game since 1991 😂

Yup. I remember VT fans were giving us shit for our stadium being empty in seasons where we went 3-9 and 3-7 (season got cut short cause 3 of our players died), like sorry most of us would rather go to bars than watch our team get 40-pieced by Georgia Tech. Like our fan engagement is awful and, until recently, catered more to the older fans, but at the same time you can’t blame fanbases of teams who sucked in recent memory for wanting to do something else.
