apply early, do leetcode. practice matrix questions for gca. target companies that do a lot of sophomore hiring historically. basically, do everything i wish i did last year as a rising junior now. have a back up plan and try and do paid research too. don’t expect the best, but u don’t need the best. look into unusual industries
for example, my roommate literally couldn’t find an internship for the longest time. he was fs going to do research at my university (which gives like a grant). between my freshman year and sophomore year, i searched for internships a bit, but once i realized it was cooked, did research at a local university. the fact that this local university is t20 was also good, but obviously not needed
my roommate was able to snag an internship at accenture last second so good for him, but yea, that’s what i mean by backup. i truthfully was not that vigilant with my search, so i interned at a mid tier energy company. i’m realizing it doesn’t particularly matter that much, because in my interviews w companies rn love the fact i worked in energy. don’t worry about what u get, get something
