After almost 5 months of job searching I finally started my first programming/IT job out of college. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

It’s important to remember that IT and programming are wildly different (take it from a programmer actively working in IT 🤢)

My job is considered both, it involves programming (mostly database stuff so far) but is considered IT because we respond to tickets from users and employees to fix issues in the existing code. Or we write new code to create reports, update the database, or something else related to the data.

addressing tickets from the end user doesn't necessarily make it IT, that's still software engineering

My company considers the job IT, thats how it is labeled so thats what I am calling it. Its my second week so there is probably more to the job than I know yet
