youre okay, take some time to learn and practice the fundamentals of the language your college teaches. all of those concepts are pretty much universal (minus the syntax) across major languages

My advice is be passionate and do things in your free time not just to “gain experience” but because why not? I would say that a large part of the things that I learned about software was purely through just having fun and trying new things for the sake of it. You will be fine, just have fun!
