this strikes me as being unnecessarily self-righteous. not everyone is adept at version control in uni (where some people don’t even have prior experience in CSSE), and some people only have personal projects where they are the sole contributor and everything is done on the main branch. why not just help someone and teach them something new instead of looking down on them?

It was an example. The problem is that this class teaches git (its a whole week) of our quarter. Their incompetency means i need to show them how to this (which by the way was covered throughout a week of lecture on git!) If this project’s grade were individual, I’d be fine - but not when my grade gets affected by them.
