As a non computer science major, do you all think it is still a good idea to learn to code? Since AI is coming into the field so strongly

Also as a non comp sci major (cybersecurity), id say yes. You don’t need to learn anything too fancy or complex, at least just get the main idea of programming down. Once you learn one language you can learn the rest fairly easily. Learning how to program at a very basic level will only help you. As a cybersecurity major my courses were programming heavy at all. I took 1 Java class and 1 Python class. Both have help me tremendously just by understanding (for the most part) whats going on

Yes it is still a good idea. AI is a tool for improved productivity, if you don’t use it you’ll definitely lose your job but it’ll never replace a job by itself

Yes, even if you don’t use it, the line of thinking is a helpful tool.

In the background of applications and how code can be manipulated in malicious ways. Also Python helped tremendously with writing scripts (which, AI can also do. But my company doesn’t allow us to use AI yet since we deal with sensitive information), so my manager has greatly appreciated my scripting knowledge. In short, yes it helps. You don’t need to code a massive project. But understanding the basics (and maybe a little more than the basics) will help you tremendously
