Is it impressive to have a 4.0 as a junior CS major in an Ivy League? Or do companies / labs / graduate schools not really care about that kind of thing?

gpa usually past 3.5 it doesn’t do too much unless the graduate / research route. Some internship/co op programs have gpa requirements which is where passing that threshold can help. It looks good but they would want to see experience & projects you can talk about. Helps a lot for scholarships though!

at least at my school (not ivy league but top cs school), profs say they won’t bring anyone in their lab with a 4.0. really good shit but ofc it helps. it also doesn’t hurt if it falls although that might depend on school. it matters for grad school, less for companies except quant where it will. labs do not care at all

If someone else has a 3.5 and has you best in projects, they’re going to get the job done

most companies do not care what school or what your gpa is, mainly on your projects and your ability to learn and accept change
