Have you thought about being the slightest bit competitive? Cause if you’ve graduated already and can’t find a job 1) you’re not trying hard enough 2)maybe you’re just not as qualified as the Indian candidates 🤷♀️ there’s quite a few of them at my university and honestly they are some of the brightest people I have ever met. However, if you would like a job dm me your resume and I can help you fix it.
They already are. Multiple friends of mine got their Microsoft job offers RESCINDED because the team they were going to work with got offshored. Like I get not getting the job in the first place, but having a job until mid summer and your offer gets pulled out from under you less than 2 months before you’re about to start? And of course no consequences to the company. These were fresh college grads btw.
I absolutely see where you’re coming from, but the OP isn’t incorrect either. Studies have shown that these programs do cause wage stagnation and reduced domestic employment, especially in tech. https://www.epi.org/press/a-majority-of-migrant-workers-employed-with-h-1b-visas-are-paid-below-median-wages-large-tech-firms-including-amazon-google-and-microsoft-use-visa-program-to-underpay-workers/ The issue is that it’s more focused in tech, and the narrative is often very different if you look in
Lastly, as an Indian and the child of someone who came here on the h1-B program and still have lots of family and friends that used it too, OPs concerns are valid. Almost everyone I know only started to make real money once they got their green card and has mobility and weren’t tied to a company. They weren’t broke per se, but compared to others at the same company money was tight. Less than 10% of visa employees move around because of the company-status link. Compare that to about 25% elsewhere
