no sex until marriage isnt a good idea at all. it sounds cute on paper, but u wont know ur sexually incompatible, different sex drives, etc until ur already locked in. these types of people are prob anti divorce too😭 but ppl can do what they want ig

this way of viewing sex and relationships is extremely outdated. its pointless at best, and harmful at worst- people with less experience are less likely to leave & set boundaries because they literally have no other reference points its also giving religious indoctrination but thats a topic for another day lol

Just because you don’t actually have sec doesn’t mean you can’t talk about it either and find out some stuff.

Going along with this I don’t understand the ā€œno sleeping in the same bed or even room until a certain point or even marriage.ā€ Obviously if you can’t sleep together then you probably are waiting to have sex but people aka parents need to realize you can have sex without being in bed together

Can’t you just communicate what you like sexual with the person you’re so close to that you made the commitment to spend the rest of your life with, just based on personality and time spent together? I’ve never been incompatible with anyone but I did teach just enough in my search for true love. It seems ā€œsleep aroundā€ mentality just leaves people miserable and bitter.

It’s fine bc sex doesn’t matter

the whole sex before marriage, esp in christianity, is practiced in such a misogynistic way, trying to keep women ā€œpureā€ (like the whole ā€œyou may now kiss the brideā€ tradition) and kind of pointless in the grand scheme of things

YES THIS!! the religious aspect gets me every time. it’s stupid at the end of the day bc we’re all ppl and it’s a natural part of life. it’s paradoxically pure in its impurity

Hahah. Tell this to my ex. Very religious (Baptist) and our relationship was so rocky due to this. Thus I feel like a bad man for wanting such things.

you’re not a bad man. it’s 100% natural. but the bible, when read from a fundamentalist pov, can be extremely toxic and invalidate literal human nature

Yea. That’s what it felt like. It felt like bc I couldn’t go without trying to be intimate I was in the wrong and she was right. But I guess just my nature a bit

many religious ppl can have a superiority complex , and im sorry you were made to feel that way for having normal desires. suppressing natural urges is unhealthy. it leads to shame and other issues that take years of therapy to unlearn

dont get me started on women taking mens last names, and men being able to have multiple wives in multiple religions, while women can only have one husband. very misogynistic

YES and in islam the dating thing. like dating isn’t allowed but they’re much more lenient with men than they are with women. and when they pray the men and women are separated into different rooms so the men ā€œdon’t get distracted by themā€ while praying

Like I understand the mindset and I’m not saying every 15 or 16 year old should be sleeping together but it gets to a point at which they have other ways of having sex. Like removing beds aren’t going to stop it

im not advocating giving it up to everybody, thats also another extreme... im advocating against doing absolutely nothing before marriage. both are unhealthy. if you and ur partner have both literally never had sex before... how will they know what they want and how often they want it? sexual incompatibility IS REAL and can destroy relationships. this is like asking a blind person to tell u their favorite color

It matters 100%. Sexual compatibility is just as important and attraction and personality and other parts that make up a relationship. If one doesn’t care about sex but the others does, it will affect the relationship.

Oh believe divorce is and can be necessary(abuse/cheating). But I am to choose one man for the rest of life. It’s more of a ā€œthis is very goodā€ (choosing partnership) rather than that’s very bad (choosing not to be partners) Like having 3-4 marriages is depressing

yeah but it can all be just thoughts and no real action, led me to actually get a divorce a year in, sucks to have to explain to people that you’ve been married and divorced within a year on being married
