As a guy this is how I was raised and how I see it, it’s always wife > kids > parents You give your wife everything in the world and provide for her whatever she wants if she wants you to. She’s supposed to be your entire world You be the best role model you can be for your kids and show them how to treat others with respect, and how no one and nothing is more important in this world to you than your wife Your thankful for your parents and love them always but your family always comes first

If you mean it in a literal sense no I don’t need my wife in order for me to have a heartbeat and I wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for my parents. Yes I owe a lot to my parents for raising me, providing for me, and all they have done for me throughout my life, but I intend to live a long and happy life with my wife. Are my parents part of that? Yes. Are they the center of my life? No, my wife and the family we are building together are.

I don’t subscribe to the concept that someone is indebted to their parents forever for giving birth to them. You didn’t choose to be born and you don’t owe them anything for it.
