To be frank I think the rise in TERFs is attributed to a lot of stuff on the right but also on the left being expected to center trans women on every single women's issue is definitely not helping

Left-leaning woman here. I hate the frustration that comes with feeling like trans women’s issues matter more than mine in women-centered issues. I don’t want to feel this way.

I don’t think trans women really are that centered on women-related issues, it’s simply a facet that does need to be addressed. Like all women face similar discrimination but how it affects them is different and those differences have to be discussed. You can’t support women and not support trans women because violence against trans women encourages violence against cis women. The issues women face are not a zero-sum discussion it’s important to recognize overlap to make any progress

There is a lot of overlap. People seem to forget that trans women are women and will always be a part of the conversation— not to say they should be the most dominant though, which for the most part they aren’t. Transphobia towards trans women is a very weird mix of almost everything, misogyny, homophobia, and even racism. Transphobia has been feeding a lot into misogynistic rhetoric and toxic beauty standards. We’ve literally seen non white women be harassed and abused on the basis of (con)

Not fitting into white beauty standards and being deemed as too “masculine” to be the “idealistic American woman.” Take Michelle Obama for example, this shit is genuinely ridiculous and transphobia and misogyny are deeply linked.

Trans women’s issues aren’t more or less important. Trans women’s issues should be discussed and addressed because of the role transphobia plays in misogyny and vis versa. The discrimination both groups face can be very different though, but in the end both are in fact women. The only reason they’re becoming more of a popular topic than before is because they’ve became a political straw horse the rights been using to scare people. Your feels are valid, but you should process why you feel way
