as a child of a current abusive alcoholic, try to give the kids as much support as you can. it's hard being an outsider and not able to help as much as you would like, but let your friend and let her kids know that you are always there for them. im not sure really how to help on the intervention part but if things start to get bad or physical, and the husband/father isn't doing anything about it, CALL THE COPS. CALL CPS. LET SOMEONE KNOW. make those kids your top priority over anything.
