Abortion should be legalized, it should not be encouraged to everyone but should be a medical procedure available to women who need it.

Naw. If the US is going to hold to its supposed values of freedom and justice for all, we should be like the Netherlands. Abortion easily accessible for any and all, but rarely used because of good education, and pro-life groups that instead of shaming women into keeping a fetus actually help them into being able to figure out how to afford and raise one. Pro-life groups that pass out condoms, because preventing conception is the best way to prevent abortion.

ill never understand the big argument about abortions, too many people interpret getting an abortion as being irresponsible and wanting to ‘kill a child’, ive seen so many stories of a fetus dying in a woman and doctors telling the parents that they SHOULD abort it but CANNOT legally due to the state they live in. absolutely insane

it’s literally legal in most states. if you’re a federal employee you will literally be paid the cost to go to another state to get the procedure done

Oh and starting the concept of consent in preschool with bodily autonomy (no one should touch your body if you don’t want them to unless it’s for health or emergency, and your trusted adults should always know when it happens). Would prevent a lot of sad things happening to little kids and has been shown to lead to teens waiting longer before exploring each other. Would also prevent a lot of unwanted pregnancies because girls and women are confident that their choice matters.

That is false. Abortion is only covered by insurance in 13 states, employer plans don’t have to cover it in any state. And federal employee health plans are prohibited from covering it at all.

As for legality, only 11 states have expanded access (states have put in statutes, laws & policies that explicitly protect abortion and create additional protection beyond that of the federal government). 15 states & territories protect it, but limit access. 3 states & 2 territories do nothing, neither protect or block it. 12 states & territories (including florida) are considered actively hostile, with limited access and threats of bans. In 13 states it is outright banned with legal penalties.

Multiple women have died by sepsis or internal bleeding waiting for an abortion. A few of their names: Amber Thurman (Georgia), Josseli Barnica(Texas), Neveah Crane(Texas), Savita Halappanavar(Ireland)- her husband helped make her the face of the pro life movement in the country and got the law knocked down. It’s not an exhaustive list, but still this list is only reported names and only goes back to 2012 with Savita. Brittany Poolaw and Chelsea Becker were imprisoned for miscarriage/stillbirth.

So do you believe child support should be applied the moment of conception to? Looks like many fathers owe back pay.

If anyone doesn’t want a kid they should take measures to prevent it. If a child is created unplanned, both people have responsibilities for the welfare of that child. If one person knows they want a kid & the other knows that they don’t at least for the moment, those two people should not be together at all.

If you create a child you are immediately responsible. No matter the stage
