I don’t think anybody hates it exactly. But it’s certainly a bit odd to me to enjoy it. If you guys had said miss I might have understood it a bit more but maybe not that much more Usually whenever I call anyone by this term I use the term “miss” no matter what age they are bc I never want to insinuate that somebody is old Even though I think miss is for young and unmarried women and ma’am is for older and married women like mrs. idrk though. Most of that is probably my own connotation I

yeah fs it's just regional differences! i just think it's odd how different it is. like older folks here can get upset if you don't hit them with a sir/ma'am and at probably most stores/restaurants, they'll answer or address you with a sir/ma'am. if you ever come down here just be prepared for that lol, no one's calling anyone old, its 'basic respect' (quoting genuinely), although most people probably won't call you out for not saying it
