I believe in taxing the rich, especially the ultra ultra wealthy like billionaires. There's absolutely never a need or a purpose to have that crazy amount of money especially now when there's so many people struggling to get by

well I would start by taxing them based off their net worth, not their income. For example Elon musk doesn't take any salary from his companies so he literally didn't have to pay any federal income tax which is ridiculous

okay that makes sense i just think that the billionaires shouldn’t exist thing is valid if they actually just have a billion dollars rather than a billion in pure assets (like houses cars etc). but if that money is just sitting there then that’s absolutely ridiculous

The thing also is that someone calculated how much you’d have to spend each day to spend 1 billion dollars and you can’t even spend it in the average lifetime. Like it’s hoarding wealth

They don’t make the money from scratch either. As they obtain greater and greater wealth, they rely increasingly on the services provided by taxpayers (functioning roads, security, power and utility infrastructure, public education of employees, etc). And that’s not even mentioning the number of them who make money from government contracts. It’s literally impossible to become a billionaire without utilizing publicly funded resources at scale. Privatized profits, socialized losses.
