there’s literally billions of unique experiences we have as humans and all the identities that we own. and we still can’t get past something as small as gender. this is why people feel so alone, we can’t find kinship even when the smallest obstacles get in our way 😭

Should’ve just lead with most people not understanding each other, but I guess this does drive the point home. Even the mundane have a unique perception of the world around them, is it luck that you find yourself in the company of like minded people, or just a habit of forcing oneself to belong.

i think difference is women are typically more open to learning and trying to understand and (not all!!!! don’t come first me!!!!!!) men often assume they understand and don’t put in that effort to try (again not all either men or women!!!!!! just noticeable trends!!!!!!!!)

the fact that I can’t know other people’s experiences firsthand just makes me wanna listen to them and learn from them though. over time the perspective you absorb from others gets incorporated into your worldview, you can do a lot of growing that way

real… I’m tempted to go on a rant about how there’s historical evidence backing up the theory that deliberate social alienation between the spheres of “men’s lives” vs “women’s lives” (and enforcement of the borders of the gender binary) is a tool of capitalism—like in the way that capitalism as we know it is a patriarchal system—but I know I’d be accused of having a tinfoil hat on

I’m personally more inclined towards reform as opposed to abolition on this particular issue, but I’m talking *drastic* reform and I don’t have a clear map for how we get there from the here and now, so as far as I’m concerned we’re still ultimately aligned 🤝
