this is true, but the way some women go about misogyny by trying to stoop lower and be man haters just reinforces it. Feminism isn’t supported by hating men, men aren’t the issue it’s the patriarchy. Some men realize this and some dont, some women realize this and some don’t. We just gotta collaborate better
Can men then complain that misandry is blatantly everywhere right now and it’s just accepted? I thought it was all about “equality” or that women want to be treated equally but only for the benefits and none of the sacrifices that come with it. But sure let’s whine about the patriarchy more
The issue with our society, as a whole lies not among the working class people like us, but at the very top rungs of our way of life. The rich and powerful pit us against each other using idiotic debates like “patriarchy vs matriarchy” or “republican vs democrat”, ect. they create two sides for people to be on when in reality every government and every group have a good and evil, but mainly evil. The world needs a reset
there isn’t a patriarchy to begin with, maybe in the past there was but there definitely isnt now. At least in the United States for example, everyone has the same access and equal rights, protections and opportunities. The only people who have more opportunities are the rich and powerful. That’s why this topic in specific frustrates me because it literally is a nothing burger compared to the larger issue.
in a patriarchal government woman are purposefully excluded from government, which is not the case. The recent female candidates to have ran have lost because they were terrible candidates, which isn’t saying a lot, because any person who ran in the past 50 years has been a terrible candidate and or bumbling idiot, but still. We live in a class separated, society not in a gender, separated society. We can’t have a patriarchy and matriarchy, even if we wanted to.
(resent for spelling) I just assumed you were talking about the government because that's the only point that could be made for patriarchy. more so in a normal societal way. Now, if you go look at backwards countries like places in the Middle East and Africa those are patriarchies. I have to agree because the males run the families, businesses and the governments. But in any other facet of social life, it is completely equal when it comes to gender terms. Other than making a blanket statement
and i asked you to explain how it what ways if life it is a social institution? like give examples. The point i just made is that, if you live in the first world (i,e, the Us) and not some backwards country, culturally and socially there is absolutely nothing putting man in power over women, you cant even name a point to take from when i asked
youre a cornball for thinking adding that little condescending ahh jab at the end was gonna do anything😭 theres short a character limit so i cant fully explain but go read what i said in this thread earlier about it being physically impossible for their to be a patriarchy (iv made a couple messages saying things) you cant cite something that is apart of abstract thought so just read what i said, look up what patriarchy means and think for yourself, and fo
for the rich and powerful argument you have to know the geopolitical state of the world. For example the united states, it logically makes no sense to have a 2 party system in place, other than keeping specific people in power. Go look at Israel, where the idf are murking people and terrorists are bringing civilians into it. They want you to pick a side when in reality every group there is in the wrong, (except for the humanitarian workers) Or even the Epstein files splits us, out of space to wr
I called you a cornball for speaking condescendingly, you resorted to using ad hominem first so you cant call me out for using it back. That doesnt even make sense. Also if youre all about grammar then you should know you just said “percent” instead of “present” in that post. The fact that you need something that requires basic abstract thought and reasoning proves to me that you have never made a thought for yourself. Not everything had been researched into.
youre talking to me about proper grammar but still are making grammatical mistakes, im saying with the limit on here i cannot accurately disseminate the information to you, which, if you believe yourself to be so educated on the topic, then you should already have knowledge of the things I just brought up prior about Israel and Republicans versus Democrats, and so on. You can look it up if you truly want to know that bad, obviously, there’s not going to be something stating verbatim abt the gvt
1. unrealistic body standards: men are expected to be bigger and taller and if they’re not they’re considered less manly. 2. male loneliness epidemic: men are taught to never share emotions or cry because it makes them ‘feminine’ 3. The pressure on men to be sexual: patriarchy assumes that men always want sex which leads to so many men and boys being sexually assaulted and staying quiet about it because society says “men are supposed to want it” 4. Toxic competition among men: men must compete
- with each other for the validation of women and other men. 5. Fear of being feminine: masculinity and femininity exists in all people but women are given more opportunity to be masculine whereas we demonize any sort of femininity and men and call them “gay” for everything. These are just a few things I could come up with off the top of my head but I hoped it helped you to understand what we mean when we say patriarchy is an enemy to us all. We are all victims
since apparently I’m supposed to provide an argument, patriarchy is a societal system, and evolution depends on working together, not against each other. humanity has survived because of cooperation and connection. patriarchy exists to divide us. it’s not some inevitable force we have to accept, and we don’t have to keep upholding it. if anything, it’s destroying us. the patriarchy kills women every day, and it kills men too. that is not evolution, that’s our regression. it’s setting us back.
You do realize you can care about more than one issue without belittling the others, right? Violations against body autonomy are NOT a contest and caring about one doesn’t take away from the other. Empathy isn’t like pie; giving some to one issue doesn’t mean there’s less to go around for others. What’s next? You gonna go, “Oh waa waa” to male rape victims because rape culture statistically affects women more? “Your issues don’t matter because this group has it worse” is part of the problem
“Your issues don’t matter because this other issue is worse” is fucking wild. This shit isn’t a pissing contest. You can care about more than one thing. Genuinely, belittling one type of systemic body autonomy violation based on sex and gender because this OTHER systemic body autonomy violation based on sex and gender is worse is just preventing solidarity and spreading more division and “us vs. them” mentality. Maybe try including others in the conversation instead of shutting others out.
And yes, I know a lot of men only bring up these issues as a “gotcha” to shut down women, but as a comparison, what do you think is a better response to, say, a man going, “Men get raped too” as a gotcha? A. Shut the fuck up, women have it worse, thus male rape victims don’t matter. B. I know, and this is certainly another problem that we as a society need to address. What have you done to help male rape victims? Unless you genuinely believe A, in which case fuck you.
Patriarchy is not a “natural” part of human existence and has actually only existed for a short period of time in comparison to our species’ existence. Anatomically modern humans have been around for roughly 300,000 years. However, agriculture only began about 12,000 years ago. There is a myriad of evidence that patriarchy is a result of class divisions that sprouted up around the development of agriculture and that pre-agricultural humans were egalitarian and/or had no concept of gender.
You can still see traces of this today. Austronesian languages almost universally lack gendered pronouns, indicating egalitarian (e.g., non-patriarchal) social structures were the norm pre-colonization. There is also plenty of other evidence that Austronesian cultures weren’t patriarchal until European influence. And that’s just one part of the world! Indigenous peoples all over the globe were not patriarchal pre-contact with other (usually European or Middle Eastern) cultures.
The thing is pregnancy is preventable and rape is against the law. The problem here is that circumcision is not against the law, it’s a permanent scarification of genitals and it’s wide spread. Over 80% of American males have their genitals cut up at birth. This is actually really bizarre for Europeans, Asians, and South Americans. It’s barbaric. If you care about bodily autonomy, stand up for human rights. Don’t belittle me for bringing it to attention.
Just to clarify- the vast majority of earth does not circumcise anyone. Thankfully we made it illegal for women in 1996. How would you feel being born in 1995 and having your clit off because doctors convinced your parents it was “cleaner”?? Have some empathy. genital cutting only exists in America, Middle East, and Africa. Everywhere else thinks it’s abhorrent.
