You can disagree but their policies offer no real solutions except for assisting the rich and they have their base believing that the issue is some magical “other” when they themselves are the issue. And the Democrats are too cowardly to oppose them because they often agree with those terrible policies.

I don’t agree that all of these policies pose the ideal of separation and banning certain things. These are mostly extreme cases. Conservatism, at its core, advocates for freedom of religion and protecting religious liberties from government overreach, not establishing a state religion. The goal of deregulation and free enterprise is to encourage innovation and lower costs for consumers by promoting competition. But I understand how it seems as though monopolies would have even more overreach.

I don't think it's fair to call people stupid just for having a different political philosophy. People arrive at conservative principles through completely different, but still entirely logical, viewpoints. You can completely disagree with those priorities without writing off the intelligence of the millions of people who hold them.

Dude it’s not just a political philosophy it speaks VOLUMES of your character. Every policy that you actively support does in every way speak for who you are as a person. Not just your “political ideology” your political ideology is shaped by your foundational values and morality. If the shit that’s going on wasn’t enough to break away from this party. There is no hope for you. You’re too far gone. (Not you exactly just a way of speaking for anyone who’s still supporting this)

I agree that politics reflects our core values, but people weight those values differently. Someone might prioritize economic freedom, decentralization, or traditional institutions not out of malice, but because they genuinely believe those principles lead to the best outcomes for everyone. Disagreeing on the mechanism to help society doesn't automatically mean someone lacks morality or character.

default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> OP 12h

I completely understand the contradiction. My point wasn't that every policy outcome is perfect or beyond criticism. It’s just that the people voting for these representatives often have a completely different framework for how they prioritize rights, rather than just acting out of malice or stupidity

That’s a completely fair stance, and it makes total sense why you'd draw the line there. I mean I feel the same way people should have their basic needs met. But different people have entirely different hierarchies of what freedoms matter most, and those priorities shape how they vote.

60% to 80% of Americans believe in higher taxations on corporations and the ultra wealthy. Which side has been cutting taxes for them for decades? Tax break after tax break after tax break. Cutting regulations, cutting environmental protections. It sure as shit isn’t the democrats.

upvote 1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> OP 12h

You're right on the history of tax policy, the push for deregulation and corporate tax cuts has absolutely been a core pillar of the Republican platform for decades. My point isn't that both sides have the exact same platform but rather that the overall political framework is broken because it allows a party to consistently pass policies that majorities oppose. And the other side often lacks the power or consensus to permanently reverse them.

So they reject most of modern society. Like they always do and think they have some sort of solution nobody else has thought about. Yeah the data says otherwise but these people don’t deal in facts they deal in vibes and feelings. Hence the anti vax nonsense.

Tbh the media really does not help with this at all. When one side completely drops out of the shared factual reality, it makes any kind of debate or reform impossible. The framework can't function when we can't even agree on basic facts or what constitutes real evidence
