They do what the name implies temporarily pause physical changes caused by puberty. Then once you turn 18 you can choose to get on actual hormones. Or if doing blockers you realize hey I’m not trans, you can get off them and go through puberty as normal. It was originally a treatment for precocious puberty.
So what is your argument? that we restrict puberty blockers to people who have had 3 years of therapy? 5? to prevent any harm to a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of people? at that point just force everyone to not use them, lets burden the healthcare system. Because it is a fact that is more costly to transition after 18, with lessened results, than before.
You kinda said it for me yeah, I simply just don’t agree with giving underage people something that will affect them permanently, unfortunate that they will have lesser results, but that’s life, we make compromises, I wish I could have bought bitcoin when it was very cheap as well
How many trans people do you know that have medically transitioned for over a year? how many have expressed the idea that they wish they had started later? because I know many, and there has never been one that hasn’t said they wish they started earlier. would you argue against any sort of team sports for children? or circumcisions, antidepressants, ADHD medication or Accutane? these all have permanent effects, some negative, and are commonly done
I mean I don’t take my prescribed aderal because it made me feel not like myself during middle and high school, I will admit I do not know many trans people and can say I only know 1 and they wish that they had never taken the puberty blockers. I’m just one of those people who believes not every problem needs to be solved with a pill or some other type of medication, if a child has ADHD you can channel the energy and teach them instead of doping them up
Both of those are what’s known as corrective meaning to fix something abnormal. Hormone treatments are used for deficiencies trying to regulate the body to doing what it should be doing, braces are are attempting to straighten teeth which may have became crooked due to bone structure or other reasons
My whole point of this post at the beginning is that I think those who are in middle school to early high school experiencing dysphoria will grow out of it. If they still feel the same way years later during junior year, I say yeah go for it, but thoughts and opinions can change on a whim and I simply believe that it is too large of a decision to make at that young of an age. It’s alright if we disagree on that motion, that’s just life we don’t have to agree on everything
