i think it’s sad how society has tainted words like “submissive” or “dominant” in relationships. it’s strange because they’ll be using these words while referring to two grown ass adults with autonomy that they’re both entitled to.

I feel guilty because I refer to myself as “dominant “, but I’m not forceful to my bf or anything 😭

“submissive” whole time they’re just being helpful. like people don’t do things for you because you’re you. they do things for you because that’s who they are and who they choose to be. not because they need to be. get over yourself and stop exaggerating your importance

don’t be! every relationship dynamic is different and i’m not knocking that at all! i’m speaking directly to the connotations that they’ve been given especially to demean or degrade women. i think in using these words, people forget what they actually mean, and use it for bad things. i think these terms have lead to people trying to replicate parent to child dynamics thus being less appreciative or aware in adult relationships

Ahhh I see. I’m also a mega feminist so I’m against demeaning and degrading women, so I think subconsciously I play this “dominant role” as a retaliation to the patriarchy.

dominant and submissive used to mean demeanor of a person, so before it was sexual it was attitude based and how that person carries themselves, you being “dominant” over your bf doesn’t have to mean the sexual sense it could just mean you’re more confrontational than he is like he lets things go that you normally would get in someone’s face about
