Worked with a guy who was obviously gay, but hadn’t come out. I didn’t say anything or make it weird. Just didn’t want to out him. He asked me and other coworker, “how would you feel about a friend coming out as gay?” I saw exactly where this was going.

Cont. 1, He asked both of us and I said the truth. It wouldn’t bother me. It is what it is. Doesn’t change anything. You might as well say you like SUVs more than trucks. Whatever. Coworker launches into “it would be so weird, I don’t think I’d like it, it would change everything, it would make it awkward, I would feel different”. CLUELESS about who he was talking to.

Some straight people really are just that dumb and oblivious to queerness sometimes. Not the first time I’ve seen this

Cont. 2, So about a week later the guy came out and said he was gay. He ended up being more conversational with me. More small talk. Seemed more comfortable. With the other worker? It was like someone plopped a 10 ton elephant in between these two. You couldn’t even cut the tension with a knife, you needed an axe. The dumb coworker ended up coming to me later “did you know??”, I said not really but it was also sort of obvious. He’s like “how did he hide it?!” Well, you’re just dense.
