College age kids don’t have the time or money to be responsible pet owners. Esp if you’re getting the animal during an emotionally unstable state

I graduated college last year, I have a job in finance but I work from home half the time

If you can financially support it, emotionally handle it, and provide the attention and stimulation it needs, and have the patience for training and being a good carer, go for it. Though it’s really recommended you get at least 2 bc cats are social animals and pack creatures.
