Last night I watched Inside Out 2 with my brother and throughout the whole movie he kept making weird jokes such as about how Riley was "flat" (really happened). Should I be worried? For context he is 17.

I mean it’s a weird thing to be saying about a child character lol but also just a weird way to view girls/women

very weird thing to say in general considering she’s a child animated character for a children’s movie. but he’s also 17, and age where he should know better so it’s definitely definitely weird

he may or may not grow out of that phase. He is 17 and a lot of men at 17 still act like this because they mature much slower than girls that’s why it seems so weird for us. I knew guys who acted like this at 16/17 but now they’re in their 20s and they act so much more normal

I would argue that it's probably alright to notice/consider breast size in the proper context—but this isn't one of them

but even men in their 20s are hella immature a lot of the older women i’ve spoken to has told me men don’t truly act their age until they’re in their 30s 😹

Ain’t no way you’re rehashing boys will be boys. Nah fam, this shit unacceptable at any age and they should be ashamed

i never said they shouldn’t be ashamed i’m just explaining how their brains work 😭 this is the sole reason i never dated in highschool because i couldn’t deal with how shitty they act. I don’t have a son it’s not my job to teach them 😭

Immaturity doesn’t equate to this shit though. Shitty behavior is NOT a normal part of development, even for men. So don’t encourage it, even indirectly, by excusing it to “boys will be boys”. No they won’t. Boys will punch these type of idiots in the nose irl tho

🤷‍♀️ it’s still not my job to parent these kids and this comment does have a lot to do with maturity… making sex jokes IS a maturity thing 😭 whether you like it or not a lot of boys ARE gonna act like this as future parents we have to be smarter and be good examples for our future children. As a 20 year old girl it is not my job to police children

it is OP’s job to step up as an older sibling and tell her young brother to stop making those kinds of jokes tho but it’s definitely not out of the ordinary for it to happen we just have to stop it before they turn into 25 year old men who still make these jokes. Just cuz I said it’s normal doesn’t mean i think it’s right 😭

Who said it was your job? Not a single soul said it was your job. That’s not a sex joke either, that’s an insult. And sexualizing a child, animated or not is digesting. You’re right OP should step in. But you need to stop spreading the narrative “it’s ok bc they’ll grow out of it”. That’s also disgusting of you

he is sexualizing a child but he’s also still a child himself, you have a very black and white way of looking at things I can tell but that’s not how life is. I don’t think i’m a disgusting person because I think the child will grow up and hopefully grow out of saying these sorts of things but he needs someone to tell him not to. Idk why you’re trying to quote something I never said tho, I never said it’s okay i said “may or may not grow out of that phase” you decided to add words to my mouth

I'm actually his older brother, I highly doubt he'd talk like that in my presence if I was his older sister

Actually, I was agreeing with the consensus last night, but now after this tirade between you and #4, maybe he's not that bad because you sound like one of those insufferable radical feminists who thinks every aspect of straight male sexuality is so dangerous and disgusting and is constantly screaming about harassment and nonsense

#4 is right, you have a very black and white view of things and I hope you never have a son to psychologically abuse with ideology

So you think your brother knows it’s wrong to talk like that about women but does it anyways around you because he thinks other men will be okay with it. You need to teach him those kinds of comments are weird and rude
