i feel this. my mom didn’t necessarily neglect us per se but she was really bad with money and we were always poor so i didn’t start regularly going to the dentist until i was about 17. now i’m adult who really needs braces (which are cheaper and easier to get when you’re a child)

Ive got similar genetics from both sides of my family, I think my parents only took me a few times through my adolescence and had teeth pulled instead of filled or crowned and it caused a debilitating fear that still affects me today. I’m going to either be in debt my whole life after getting a full implant or die from an infection because i can’t afford it. 🙃 I wish dental care was included in healthcare.
