“Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible”

It’s an interesting discussion actually because I feel like it’s impossible for all of them to be actual pedophiles and into children. I think a large amount of them are but I think it’s actually more about the exertion of power and dominance that they’re attracted to rather than the fact that they’re minors. It’s truly disgusting

Because they normalize it and then all the creeps of the world jump on the bandwagon. That’s why suddenly the mega pedo list is suddenly a “hoax” 💀

because when people are allowed excess power, that makes them want even more power & dominance. the concept of literally anything or anyone being “off limits” where they’re concerned starts to infuriate them and make them feel intolerably insecure. they get bored of other adults and become fixated on targeting children as their new conquests for the “thrill” of doing something so destructive and getting away with it

I think it’s because vast majority of the time to get to that kind of power you have to go with everything the people already in power are doing, so most of the people who get there are people who are also comfortable doing it

I’m starting to think it’s just men’s nature

Reminds me of that quote (I don’t remember where it’s from) about how the only rulers you want are the people who don’t want to be rulers, and that people who seek that power can’t be trusted or something

this is true even outside of people in positions of extreme power, oddly enough. research has shown that many who prey on children sexually are not actually “attracted” to children to begin with. as with many other forms of sexual violence, opportunism is often a key factor

nah, both are true. unchecked power does also corrupt

Yeah i remember talking about this in one of my classes this past spring. When you think about it, these men are already the most powerful people in the world and more powerful than anyone else in human history in some cases. They have all the money, fame, and power that they could possibly want. So, for the kind of person that is attracted to that kind of thing, where are they supposed to go where they can exert their power and dominate in a new way so to speak? Disgustingly, it’s children.

exactly, that’s what I was trying to say with my own reply to the post but I think you articulated it better than I did
