Very convinced that my depression/anxiety simply stems from my chronic inability to know how to properly express myself 😶

Something that has helped me w this issue is identifying what I’m feeling then why until you get to the root of the issue then decide how to solve it. I.e. what: I feel mad-> why: because you hurt my feelings -> what hurt my feelings -> why did it hurt-> and so on.. then you can deal with the root issue. You got this, emotional intelligence is multifaceted and a difficult skill to build. Recognizing it is the first step!

Also bringing your feelings (even horrible, self deprecating, intrusive feelings and thoughts) into the light of awareness. If you feel depressed, literally say it out loud “I feel x”. It can’t control you as much because now YOU get to chose to focus on it or not 🤍
