I agree just because someone with Tourette's called you a slur doesn't mean they meant it. You lose me completely when you say we should have empathy for a slur slinger but NOT for the people who were called a slur at a peak career moment w/o apology

we can have empathy for both! moral of the story: broadcasting company should have bleeped it out. it was offensive but also involuntary. obv the impact was bad but there was zero intent.

Notice how the post doesn't say that we can't and it's actually racist to respond "we can have empathy for both!" when exactly what I'm pointing out is white people have empathy for a man with Tourette's being "humiliated" for calling people slurs but not for the people who were actually called slurs. It's tone deaf. You don't need to announce we need to have empathy for both when it's already clear that the masses have empathy for one and not the other

Like even in your response, putting "but" after it's offensive and the impact was bad and before it was involuntary and unintentional means that you clearly have more empathy for one group than the other and you're brushing it off. At least if you're gonna pretend to give a fuck, use the word "and" or at least switch the order on what comes before and after "but" every once in a while
