Actually for many breeds, it’s been shown that they recall an extended period of pack separation (1 hr in testing iirc from past training research) as a reason not to do something going forward. It’s how boundaries related to roughhousing and whatnot are taught- if you violate what’s deemed acceptable levels of nipping as a pup, you get lightly shunned by your group for a while. Dogs can remember a lot, for a long time, though it’s difficult to know where conscious v subconscious recall diverge
