basically i just did that but also my friend had a crush on him and he was crushing on her but was depressed and he was going to jump so i told him that she had a crush on him and he never jumped

There’s got to be more than that, people in suicidal states don’t usually back away so easily bc of one thing. But idk maybe that really was enough.
