i felt this way for a while too but i realized at the end of the day gender roles are made up. lots of cis ppl dress/act like the opposite gender but still identify as their gender from birth. sometimes ppl aren’t socially safe or financially stable to transition or maybe they’re happy with how they look who am i to judge y’know?
Kinda my point though like if it is made up and you don't think there's XYZ things that make someone a boy vs a girl then how can you say you feel like one or the other. And this post doesn't say people who can't present differently, it says people who have no interest in doing so.
i can’t really speak entirely accurately to this cause i do follow gender roles just because that’s what i prefer. but from what i understand gender identity is hardwired in your brain and gender expression doesn’t always align with that. just like how can a cis woman who doesn’t “look or act” like a woman know she is a woman and not trans? well her brain tells her that she’s knows and feels like a woman.
I don't think it's your brain telling you you feel like a woman, I think it's society said when you were born that you were a girl and you felt no need to diverge from that. What I'm saying is especially in cases when you feel no need to diverge from what society called you socially or physically at all, what's driving the need for you to just say you're not a girl
i mean i do think it is a neurological thing on some level. some ppl have dysphoria that’s more intense than others. trans ppl who don’t adhere to gender roles have to be aware they’re not perceived as the gender they identify with. their social dysphoria likely isn’t as intense. i’m sure there’s studies that dive deeper into what you’re wondering tho i’m not a scientist so i feel like i’m not gonna give u a satisfactory answer.
