They really don’t affect people that much. The people who claim to be “affected” are actually the minority. It’s honestly a choice on how much you’re bothered by things that you don’t really have any control over. You can complain and obsess 99.99% of the time if you want, but everyone only gets one chance to vote. Should you care about voting? Yes. As in, it’s just a claim and they’re really not even affected on a daily basis walking around living their every day life by something voted for a long time ago or not even voted on yet. Either way, the purpose of a democracy and voting is so that the minority of any subject, cause, or creed is not the one controlling everyone else’s life.
