That’s so real. But also, am I the only one that is like ‘wtf’ because a condom doesn’t always work. Those things snap, leak, some people poke holes in them on purpose, like- so I should depend on a little piece of rubber that can break at any point and not use my birth control? It feels like they just want us pregnant so then they can tell us we have no choices over our bodies and then get mad if we don’t want to do things

Hi girlies!! Incase anyone needs another experience on BC, I was on the hormonal pill from 7th grade-freshman year of college because of PCOS. Then I switched to nexplanon and a hormone supplement and it changed my life!!!! Seriously, I haven’t noticed any severe side effects and when I was on the pill I gained a tremendous amount of weight. With nexplanon I feel so much better emotionally and physically. It’s all about finding the one that works for you!!

Actually, when we are young teens and early twenties, the period comes on heavily because we are very fertile and at the peak of our metabolism. I wish someone had told me to exercise regularly to handle the cramps. By the thirties, it will get a lot better and be substituted with noticeable mood swings. The older we get the more feminine and calmer we become. Embrace every season in our lives.

Women have always had periods (shocker) and while there has always been some of the diseases prevalent today it wasn’t to the same degree. If you experience terrible periods you are likely lacking in important nutrients etc. Birth control is preventative yes but this doesn’t treat the underlying cause. Ultimately, do what you must but be aware of the mechanisms different meds act on.

The only medication that helps treat my condition fully and effectively other than doing a daily walk, is a combined Birth Control. Again, why does it matter? Women didn’t use to use birth control and women used to have serious constant medical problems which were drawn up to hysteria, mental illness, or just being called infertile. If you want to go on a post and make fun of women using birth control, just be aware you’re in the wrong place buddy. And if you’re a woman saying this? That’s sad.

Birth control was created until the 40s and not widely used until the 60s.. Never said it shouldn’t be used but its important to recognize it could have longterm effects we don’t know about.. If you aren’t aware most forms induce the body into pregnancy but without a fetus thus causing weight gain and other things associated with pregnancy. Thus, being in a “pregnancy” for years could have unintended side effects.

upvote -7 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #11 2d

weight gain is definitely a side effect but i’ve been on birth control for over a year and i haven’t gained anything. if anything having the energy to actually move around has let me lose weight! also… yeah bc has been around since the 60s. that’s 60ish years of time to see if there were any significant long term affects

upvote 19 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 2d

Once again.. I never said don’t use birth control. I just said that it should be a short term preventative measure rather than a longterm crutch. There is probably also better solutions. I think hormone therapy is good for those aging such as for menopausal treatment and TRT. Human health is not a solved thing however and thus I would be skeptical of it being the ONLY treatment for your condition. I’m not here to judge you.

upvote -6 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #11 2d

yeah there probably are better solutions but women’s health is famously understudied and so it’s unlikely those will be an option anytime soon. also i’m gonna be honest you can say you’re not judging all you want but none of your comments have actually come off that way

upvote 12 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #11 2d

ALSO to circle back to this, birth control doesn’t induce the body into pregnancy. it increases hormones to make your body ‘think’ you’ve already ovulated, but the actual comparison between bc and pregnancy in terms of hormones is veryyyyyy different. it’s like getting pricked with a needle vs getting shot lol

you said it induces the body into pregnancy, just without a fetus. that’s not accurate at ALL to how birth control actually works in the body. it increases some of the same hormones, which is why some symptoms of early pregnancy are common, but those usually fade after 3ish months as your body gets used to it. that’s where the similarities end

Do you think a woman’s body has some natural NO BABY mode? The medication can’t add new features it has to work with what it has thus why birth control is able to prevent pregnancy in the first place. The body won’t seek out to become fertile if it already thinks its “pregnant”

You are trying to explain all these terrible things when you clearly know nothing about birth control and it is demonizing it by spreading misinformation and going into a thread to try and tell women not to use it and that it’s only a short term preventative item when that is the opposite of what it is. This isn’t to say that birth control is pregnancy but piggybacks off of the same hormonal cycles thus causing all sorts of influences over the body similar to the first stage of pregnancy and this is not usual and causes unintended side effects which may be beneficial or harmful.

I don’t even know what you’re on about because birth control is not natural. It is a dosage of hormones that increases within the body. Synthetic progesterone and estrogen are released into the body to convince the body it has ovulated, and so the brain believes that it does not need to release an egg. Your body then believes it is in a post-literal phase and begins again. What do you not understand?
