I think that just bc a person is older, doesn’t mean they’re wiser and deserve respect. You have to earn respect, at any age.

I think we conflate courtesy with respect. Every person gets common courtesy until otherwise losing it, but respect is a step above and it’s certainly earned

You get common courtesy with respect. You give respect but if someone breaks it they have to earn it is how I go about my life. It’s much easier that way mentally
