hate to potentially sound like a pick me but i think if women let go of the fairytale idea of men, it would reduce the stress or anger that comes from a man disappointing or failing you. remove gender in interactions and your judgement will be leveled

I don’t have a fairytale idea of men. Not going to stop me from being angry or disappointed in a man that doesn’t uphold his claimed values. Or wants a mother not a partner. The bar may be ground level, but if some coward wants to tunnel and build a basement I’m going to call him a fucking coward. Lackluster people don’t get off because “people aren’t fairytales”.

who said anything about lackluster people? the whole point is that people aren’t fairytales and expecting them to be perfect is what causes the anger. even the man you choose who is good and does what you want, he’s not gonna meet every need or want 100% and expecting that from anybody is what causes that anger. the whole point is to let go of the fairytale to REDUCE the anger. if you don’t idealize men then this post simply wasn’t for you

idk if i’d completely write it off as that. you’re acting like what i said is a blanket statement for every single dating scenario. like not even on any condescending petty shit, this is why reading is so important. i’m talking specifically to women who have a fairytale expectation in dating. wanted to be treated well ≠ fairytale. you can be treated well and still have moments where you’re disappointed hurt or angry about what your partner did. i wouldn’t say a vast majority simply because -

- dating in itself isn’t going to be the most fun process. you’re going to have heartbreak and bad experiences etc. that’s just life and dating regardless of gender. i’m referring to the fairytale mindset where one expects everything to be peaches and cream so the moment something that they didn’t want to happens, they take it deeper than what it really is. when in reality it’s just a flawed human being a flawed human. no man or woman is going to be you want everything without fault

imo someone’s only “good” at relationships when they can healthily break up with someone they’re not good for. that’s hard, and many people fail spectacularly when in that situation, which is why I say “awful.”I really meant that people severely underestimate how difficult relationships can be, so simply being human makes them hard
