the problem is that if anyone else treated me the way I treat myself, I would feel justified being shitty to them in return. so I guess I’m locked in a cycle of getting revenge on myself 💀

Well. You could try being better to yourself slowly. And then make that even, no? It just takes a step. Little stuff. Dont call yourself something that you wouldn't call others... You know? It looks good when you believe you look good.

agreed! well said 🫡 for me the most effective tool so far has been to examine the ethical logic behind why I wouldn’t say a particular thing to another person, and to commit to that as a principle. like, ever since I recognized that insulting someone else’s appearance = reinforcing a shallow & harmful hierarchy, I’m less liable to go so hard on beating myself up over how I look
