I’m sorry but if you have a genetic disorder like Huntingtons you should NOT be reproducing. That is incredibly selfish. If you must have kids, adopt.

Period im tired of it being “ableist” when i say people with severe disabilities or genetic issues shouldn’t be reproducing.

It's fine to have this opinion but as soon as the government starts deciding who can't reproduce based on medical stuff like that, it's fascism

This is incredibly uneducated… This is ableist af… So a lot of people who appear to be “not disabled” carry the genetic markers for the disabilities… For example both of my parents are in perfect health and because of that I am sick… Its going to happen no matter what…

Also some people with those severe disabilities don’t have the ability to pass it onto their child. Or if matched with the proper partner will never be an issue. If you have a severe medical condition it is probably wise to adopt to prevent your body through going through anything that intense.

I specifically mentioned Huntingtons in my post because that disease is very genetic and if a parent has it there is a very high chance the child will have it too and that is a HORRIBLE disease to have. I don’t care if that offends you it’s true. And obviously if you are unaware you have this disease then that doesn’t count and that’s not what I’m referring too. However if you have a family history of it you should definitely get tested before having kids.

Yeah I don’t think the government should be involved in reproduction at all because that’s a slippery slope. I just think we all people should become more aware of how selfish this choice is and make better decisions ourselves.

Severe disabilities, and I don’t know why? It seems like common sense.

Agreed. The government should not have a say on autonomy. That being said, people should start thinking about more than themselves when it comes to these decisions. They need to think about the quality of life the child will have.
