postpartum psychosis is a real thing!! weird you’re talking about her and not the fact that 91% of family annihilators are men

weird you’re bringing a whole different scenario into this. i never said postpartum depression isn’t real, that doesn’t excuse strangling ur children tho. i hope this helps!

I’ll just double down on what #1 said. Postpartum psychosis is real. My own mother went through it. We aren’t saying she shouldn’t be locked away for the rest of her life but we are saying there are MORE PEOPLE WHO NEED TO BE PUNISHED THAN JUST HER

We need to stop pretending that postpartum psychosis has any relation to hormones because they are completely different things. Psychosis and depression are completely different things.

and you’re still breathing how many years later? you just proved my point lmao, postpartum depression isn’t the reason. she’s sick and deserves jail ;)

I really don’t think OP cares. They seem to be mindlessly wanting only one person to be punished for something that several other people also need to be punished for.

We don’t put mentally ill people in jail that is inhumane we put them in asylums for institutionalization. We put people who commit CRIMES and DO NOT DO THEIR JOBS in Jail when failing to do their job resulted in a crime. You must be a republican.

Well, yes. That’s kind of how psychosis works. That’s why we need to actually understand postpartum psychosis and talk about the warning signs so people can identify it and get help before someone fucking dies. Making a joke out of it while pretending to care about preventing deaths is a contradiction.

soo murder isn’t a crime..? if that’s case why was dhamer arrested and not institutionalized? dude ATE his victims, that’s like the definition of crazy lmao. and then you bring politics into it like what😭you’re just talking to talk atp

So we agree then. You’re just an asshole about coming to said agreement. Clancy needs to be institutionalized and those medical officials she went to who failed to do their jobs need to be investigated and put in prison if need be.

no, again, idk if we do. if you don’t think lindsay also deserves jail then we disagree! i do think the medical professionals need to be investigated but lindsay pulled the metaphorical trigger (strangling her kids)

the insanity defense exists to ensure that individuals are not criminally punished for acts committed during a severe mental illness when they cannot understand their actions or know that what they are doing is wrong, if you knew anything about postpartum psychosis you wouldn’t be saying she deserves jail time, you’d say she deserves treatment

I think putting a mentally ill person in prison will do nothing good. She’s still going away for a long time either way.

Dahmer pleaded insanity after pleading not guilty. This meant that he admitted to the murders without insanity first he changed it to get a better treatment. This is why he was sent to prison. Please educate yourself on a subject before you say something you don’t know about

hey smart guy, the point of that comment was to lock her up, i know they don’t treat insanity in a normal jail. there’s things such as context clues where when you take the entire text and break it down, it means something else. the kick there was i said “treat it in jail” and then the context was me mentioning her murdering her children. if you haven’t grasped it now, i believe the jail is where she belongs, not an institution! there’s ur english lesson for the day lmao

You are a fucking idiot who has no idea what mental illness is or how it works. You seem really angry about this. With your level of emotional intelligence and general intelligence I’d recommend you don’t have ANY children. You’re an inhumane person if you think locking away people in a cell without any treatment who are mentally ill is the answer to problems. The most positive outcome here is further research on postpartum psychosis. You want nothing positive from this.

upvote 12 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #6 14h

yes, postpartum depression and psychosis played a major role in how the murders occurred, as she did reach out for help multiple times… but it doesn’t ignore the fact that she did, in-fact, murder her kids and admitted to doing it. she needs to be held accountable for what she did and serve her sentence rightfully so. though, this also shows that the healthcare system fucking sucks and doesn’t do its job beyond just prescribing someone pills and moving on with their day.

Nobody here thinks she shouldn’t be punished. However people with a brain say she needs to be institutionalized and studied to better understand this condition she will be locked away from society all the same but sending her to prison forever will only result in another tragedy either her hands or someone else’s.

We are also saying that there are MORE PEOPLE who need to be held accountable. The OP is an over emotional unsympathetic unthinking idiot of a person.

honestly, that makes a lot more sense when you put it into that perspective. I agree, and I’m sorry if my comment came off as a bit insensitive. I do agree that in cases like this, clancy and those with a similar case should be institutionalized for better treatment so that we can better understand postpartum psychosis related cases. my perspective came from those who were constantly downplaying the situation, and saying that “she didn’t do it.”

No she absolutely did it but treating her like trash to be discarded rather than an opportunity to prevent more tragedy is the problem. Also seeing her as the ONLY responsible party for what happened. The people who say she’s innocent are genuinely stupid.

take a breather. they’re not saying that lindsay, as a murderer, shouldn’t be held accountable. she needs to be, but herself and many others going through postpartum related issues need to be studied better to help prevent more cases like this from occurring. clancy isn’t the first case of someone committing a crime due to the influence of postpartum psychosis, and it’s heartbreaking for the family and children affected, but it also shows how the healthcare system doesn’t take these issues—

Yes the psychologist on the prosecution team said this and the 2 on the defense team said differently. This doesn’t change the fact that more than 1 person needs to be prosecuted for this tragedy. If she’s found to be insane she’s going away if she’s found to be criminally responsible she’s going away. If she’s admitted to a hospital and found to be not insane she’s going to end up in prison anyway. This proves nothing currently 1 person from the prosecution vs 2 from the defense.
