well i agree i think the “yall did xyz to my ancestors” is often used as a justification to be mean/racist. like my mother (chinese lady) is SUPER racist to koreans and japanese ppl

They weren’t saying anything to disregard the history they were saying how black ppl use it as a way to excuse their rude behavior to make it seem okay

and she often uses the reasoning of “they did xyz to us!!!”. while yes they did and japan for example hasn’t even acknowledged it i still don’t think that’s an excuse to be racist to japanese or korean ppl while

There’s nuance in every topic. The silver lining in this one is that history should be acknowledged but not used as an excuse to spew out more racist behavior and hateful actions. But being triggered from the simple mention of history is a sign of deep resentment and closeted racism IMO

Not a girl, but I’m glad to see nuance on here :) We can benefit as a society from seeing things in a spectrum rather than black or white 🫶

yes while i agree, i also think that to be racist like my mother is to an entire culture and population and many of the newer culture is now from people who did not have a part of the atrocities committed is wrong. deep seated, generational hate only leads to more atrocities. so many wars nowadays would stop if countries stopped hating each other and justifying their crimes and actions against each other with history

sorry for misgendering!! thanks for understanding where i’m coming from though instead of reacting defensively. i agree so many things are a spectrum and society really does suffer from labeling things as black and white
